Introduction
A Disaster Management Cell has been functioning at SP (D) South Andaman’s Office complex, to monitor Disaster Preparedness and Management operation of A&N Police at ground level.
Functions
DM Cell is imparting Disaster Management training to all the members of police including Fire Service, PRO, IRBn, Home Guards etc. as well as to other departments like Forest, APWD, twice in a month on “Collapsed Structure Search Rescue (CSSR)” and “Medical First Response (MFR)” with objective :
- To Provide first hand knowledge about “Basic Techniques for Penetration in Collapsed Structure, Locate Gain and Access to Extricate the live victims from collapsed structure”.
- Management of victim and his/her injuries and also provide the required knowledge to save a life amidst the panic and chaos.
The following officers are trained in“TOTs for Disaster Management” in field of Collapsed Structure Search Rescue (CSSR) & Medical First Response (MFR) fromNational Industrial Security Academy (NISA), CISF Academy Hyderabad.

DM Cell is co-coordinating in Mock Drill activities being conducted by various unit of A & N Police on 3rd and 18 the of every month in 03 districts during the routinely carried out Communication Tests (Disaster Warning Siren) by UT Administration and to organize National Level Mock Drill proposed to be conducted on 20-22 November, 2013 in A&N Islands by A&N Administration.
